Thatta:Fearing to lose his only abode, the father of six reportedly ended his life by jumping into a water canal in a village of Var area near Thatta. The deceased identified as Keshu Kohli, 35, took the extreme step after he received the notice to demolish his thatched house setup alongside a Sim Nallah. His body was taken to Rural Health center Var for autopsy from there it was handed over to the relatives.
The relatives of Keshu Kohli told reporters that He was suffering from depression after he received the notice from the department of irrigation and drainage to demolish his house, and that depression eventually ended his life. They further said Keshu was the sole breadwinner for his family and had been living in that house for many years. They alleged that houses of poor people were being demolished to save the shopping malls and Bungalows of influential people.
MPA Riaz Ali Shah Sheerazi took notice of the incident and said that he would apprise CM Sindh of the incidents taking place in the area in the aftermath of the anti-encroachment drive.
Meanwhile, a youth named Papu Nayo reportedly committed suicide in the area of Bagan Mori near Thatta. His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan of the room of a guest house located alongside a fish farm. Area police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Thatta where the doctor who performed the autopsy said that the cause of death was strangulation. The body was later handed over to the heirs. The cause that led to the suicide of young Papu Nayo could not be known till the filing of this report.
