Thatta: Italy,s Ambassador In Pakistan His Excellency Andreas Ferrarese, along with the consul Danilo Gurdenila reached Thatta to visit the historical site of Bambhore which was once an ancient capital of Sindh and a traditionally rich city.
Besides being an ancient capital of Sindh Bambhore is also associated with the love story of Sassui-Punhun Immortalised by Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai,s Poetry.
The dignitaries received an ardent welcome by Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Sardar Ali Shah, Secretary Ghulam Akber Laghari, and Director Antiquities Manzoor Ahmed Kaneshiro.
The delegation was on its maiden visit to Bambore where they were apprised about the historical background of Bhambore and its distinguished status in the history of Sindh and the Subcontinent. They also visited the Mosque, the excavation area, and the Bhambore museum.
Explaining the historical significance to them Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that; Bhamore was an ancient capital of Sindh and was evident of Sindh,s glorious past. As it was a primeval city, so there were several anecdotes attached to it that were yet to be unearthed. He also lauded the tremendous work of the Italian archeological mission led by Professor Valeria on the site and in other parts of the country. He said that; A new era of cultural ties would begin between Italy and Sindh once the world got rid of the pandemic. Ghulam Akber Lagahri and director antiquities Manzoor Kanasro also shed light on the historical events associated with Bhambhore and the archeological work done at the site. The diplomats seemed eager to explore the history of Sindh.
Andreas Ferrarese expressed profound gratitude for the hospitality received and said that There were a lot of corporate projects being carried out by Pakistan in collaboration with the Italian government. He said it was wonderful to explore the history of Sindh which was quite similar to Rome.
Syed Sardar Shah presented Tradition Sindhi Topi and Ajrak and trilingual Ganj of great Sufi Saint and Poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai as a gift to the dignitaries.
