ZHOB: Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Mitha Khan Kakar has said that Livestock after agriculture is an important sector of the rural economy. Zhob valley’s pasture land extends hundreds of kilometers and there is a huge potential. In order to improve the livestock breed, the provincial government and the Livestock department are striving to develop and put the sector on modern lines.

He expressed these views while, inaugurating the three-day free veterinary camp in a mountainous area of the district, where the veterinary team vaccinated thousands of animals against various diseases. Supervised by Deputy Director Dr. Naseebullah Kakar, the camp was set up by the Livestock department while supported by Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations.

The deputy director told this scribe that on the special directives of provincial minister Livestock and Dairy Development Mitha Khan Kakar, Secretary Tayyab Lehri, Director General Ghulam Rasool Taj, Divisional Director Dr. Baha-ul-Haq Mandokhail and Director Animal Health Dr. Juma Khan Babar, the vet team vaccinated over twelve thousand animals including sheep, goats and cows in different union councils during the three-day back-to-back free vaccination camps.

“FAO has set up three-day veterinary medical camps in collaboration with the Livestock department. The vet team vaccinated 10360 animals in UC Garda Babar while 11296 animals in UC Ghundei Sulaimanzai and Khosti,” adding the farmers have also been provided with free medicines.

Dr. Allah-ud-Din Kibzai, Dr. Karim Dad Babar, Dr. Karim Mandokhail, Dr. Farhan and stock assistants treated and vaccinated the cattle to prevent animal against the seasonal diseases. The official urged the cattle owners to stay in touch with the department in order to save their animals from the diseases.
