ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : Every single person on this planet has a quirk – some of us need security blankets to sleep, others can’t apply makeup without opening their mouths, some can’t work without music playing in the background and others can’t eat if one food type on their plate touches another! The world is full of some of the most fascinating peculiarities. Coke Studio 2020 came across a similar trait in their recordings and we have dubbed it our artist’s loveable trademark. Singer-songwriter Mehdi Maloof is just so used to playing his guitar whilst singing a song that when he was asked to sing his song in Rohail Hyatt’s house, the 2020 makeshift CS studio, he started singing, strumming along to an imaginary guitar in his hands.
Although a new entrant in this industry, he has already managed to make his place, capturing millions of hearts with his first performance in Coke Studio 2020. Dil khirki with its upbeat music will have you moving to its beat. The song has already hit 2.2 million views since its release and is only gaining more popularity especially amongst the youth.
To help him feel more at ease, the production team gave the singer a dummy guitar to strum along to while performing.
When asked about the incident Maloof simply exclaimed, “But I’ve never really sung a song without a guitar, so I am not used to singing without it…”
Since 2012, Mehdi Maloof has been gathering a cult following with this soulful lyrics and deeply existential songs! His music is unapologetically real, with no qualms of any kind blemishing their meaning; and it is this essence of ‘real’ that hooked Coke Studio Pakistan, propelling him directly into the CS2020 line-up! We’ve heard his song can literally turn that frown upside down – are you ready?
