ZHOB: Inspector General (IG) Prisons Muhammad Yousaf paid a surprise visit to the central jail Zhob on Thursday. He was accompanied by Superintendent Jail Khuram Riaz, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Rafiq Kakar, Assistant Superintendent Dur Muhammad Mandokhail and prison staff.
As per tradition guard of honor was presented to the IG by a smartly dressed police contingent on his arrival. Superintendent jail gave a briefing to the IG on security of the prison and its administrative matters. He checked the security arrangements, visited various barracks, met inmates and inquired about the issues they were facing. He also checked the health facilities at jail dispensary and directed the superintendent jail to ensure provision of all facilities including medical facilities to the convicted and under-trial prisoners in accordance with the jail manual and rules.
“All out efforts would be made for the provision of more facilities at the prison, so that the jail inmates could be provided better environment and made useful citizens of the society,” he said.
IG expressed pleasure and satisfaction over the arrangements particularly the security and cleanliness at the historic jail. He assured the staff that no stone will unturned for their daily allowance.
“I found everything done as per jail manual and rules. The jail authorities are expected to continue their efforts to maintain such arrangements also in future,” Inspector General added.
