This writes up is written in the respect of the teacher because teaching is a profession. it is not the legacy of an individual who is becoming a cause of defamation. The recent heinous acts of an individual person who is maltreating the students and mala-fide the whole teaching profession. our society is conservative in highlighting the bad character of individual and naming notorious profession as the teacher commits the assault on the student. Teaching code and conduct are based on spotless character. So, this shall clarify that an individual is guilty not the profession. The media most often highlight the wrong done by the person with his profession. we being a good citizen always condemn
the evildoers. The profession itself is sacred and bears the prime responsibility to educate the students morality, ethics, and good manners so as to reap the good citizens in the better tomorrow. A teacher is not a common man. He possesses great qualities. The most important quality of a teacher is that he must have an influence on individuals. The quality of being influential may not be found in the common man. He is the person who develops visions, creates values, and gives a direction to his students. He presents himself as a role model for his students. In short, we can say the teacher guides his students in
a direction in pursuit of a vision, mission, or goals. The history of the whole of mankind shows that only those nations made progress, which made their teacher the pivotal point of their activity and more importantly showered respect upon him. Here a few examples are quoted. Once, a team of journalists visited Japan to have a close look at the education system. In an institution, they saw an astonishing scene; the students were taking long leaps to pass that way where there was visibly no ditch or gap. It is their education system and the teacher, which helped them to flourish from the ruins of the Second World War. Hitler, an otherwise the staunch dictator had ordered that no teacher should be asked to
come in the meetings, which he had to attend, prior to his arrival, so that the teacher may not be made to stand. Such was the sense of respect towards a teacher of the leader of a nation. The apt reference is in this thought that we have lost our morals and priorities. History teaches us the lesson but we always give dear ear and negate the past precedents. There is an epitome example for us that how the Chinese empire faced the downfall. The reference is hereunder: when the ancient Chinese decided to live in peace, they made the Great Wall of China. They thought no one could climb it due to its height. During
the first 100 years of its existence, the Chinese were invaded thrice. And every time, the hordes of enemy infantry had no need of penetrating or climbing over the wall because each time they bribed the guards and came through the doors. The Chinese built the wall but forgot the character-building of the wall-guards. Thus, the building of human character comes before the building of anything else. That’s what our Students need today. Like one Orientalist said: If you want to destroy the civilization of a nation there are three ways: one Destroy family structure second was to destroy education. And, finally the third was to lower their role models and references. The decline is very clear in the fate of the
nation. Thus here are the ways; in order to destroy the family: undermine the role of Mother, so that she feels ashamed of being a housewife. To destroy education: you should give no importance to Teacher, and lower his place in society so that the students despise him. o lower the role models: you should undermine the Scholars, doubt them until no one listens to them or follows them. For when a conscious mother disappears, a dedicated teacher disappears and there’s a downfall of role models, who will teach the youngsters values?ave a thought! Is our home also invaded. Nations do not win stars overnight. They had to pass through a long evolutionary process, which culminates, into a culture of love
for knowledge and respect for those who are considered to be translators of their high ideals. Among them fall their political leaders, religious demagogues, and teachers. Great nations do not compromise at the low reflections of their characters. They forgive their common lot at their mistakes but do not exempt the teachers. They remain very selective and expect commitment from them. When they place their teacher at the top, their expectations also go manifold. In America, the President comes first, judiciary, the second and the teacher falls in third place and the rest of the professions fall behind. It is
crystal clear why they have given such a high status to the teachers. Because the role of a teacher is supposed to be the torchbearer of light in society. He shows the right path to his students. The teacher guides his students academically, morally, socially, and emotionally through the world of childhood to adulthood. A teacher enables his students to discriminate what to say at what time and how to behave under different circumstances differently. But, the irony of our system is that the teacher is not being given due respect and honour. Our society has not yet realized the importance of the teacher. But, still, the time has not gone out of our reach. The way teachers are serving society, they deserve great respect in the society. If we start respecting our teachers, we soon touch the heights of success in all aspects of our life. -The writer is a Freelancer Larkana a legal practitioner and lecturer by profession.
