ZHOB, ( Parliament Times) : Former Pakistani cricket team captain Shahid Khan Afridi distributed ration among five hundred poor and deserving families at Irfan Kasi football stadium here during his visit to Zhob as part of his mission to help those affected by the lock-down. After visiting neighboring district Killa Saifullah, Afridi arrived here, as he is on a mission to help the poor segment of society.
The distribution ceremony was organized by Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) and supported by the district administration and Balochistan Rural Support Programme. Deputy Commissioner Sherani Ramzan Palal, AC Arif Kakar, SP Fahad Khosa, Tehsildar Mehtab Shah, District Coordinator BRSP Quttab Mandokhail and social activists in a large number warmly welcomed Afridi and he was presented traditional turban upon his arrival.
Speaking on the occasion, Afridi said that he was thankful to the people of Zhob and Balochistan for their love and respect.
“SAF wants to eradicate illiteracy, particularly from the rural parts of the country by ensuring free education. SAF is dedicated to establish schools in neglected areas,” Afridi said.
He said, SAF- founded six years back, was a step towards a prosperous Pakistan. The organization was established with the aim of improving the living conditions of the marginalized communities. The SAF founder said.
He said, Balochistan was a beautiful province and he found Pakistan the most beautiful country in the world. Steps were needed to end the educational backwardness in Balochistan as development was not possible without education.
“Pakistan Army Frontier Corps, Police and Levies force have rendered great sacrifices to maintain peace,” adding Pashtoons were brave, patriotic and loyal to the country. Their sacrifices for the country will not go in vain.
He said, football and cricket are popular in Zhob, but the sportsmen are facing difficulties due to lack of facilities. He asked the administration to hold a cricket match in Zhob so he could participate during his second visit.
“I will bear the educational and sports expenses of the player who performs well,” the renowned cricketer Shahid Afridi promised.
He stressed upon the people to take precautionary measures in order to keep themselves safe from the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
