According to the details, the MLA while presenting the notion in the house pointed out that construction of the Airport at Mirpur was a outstanding and purposeful demand of the expats from the Mirpur Division.

It added that at present about one million expats are residing in Europe with a high concentration of them being in the United Kingdom. These people have not detached themselves from their roots and not only keep visiting the native area but they also invest heavily while their share in foreign exchange contributions is an excellent boost for the economy.

The resolution stated that in PPP regime, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had promised to the people of Mirpur Division, especially notables from the UK for the provision of airport in the city. “The same announcement was repeated around by then AJK premier but in reality, the promise remained only a political gimmick”, it added.

The resolution further stated that During PML N tenure in Pakistan, this was again reiterated but unfortunately this accomplishment has remained unfulfilled for the people.

The resolution says “our current government under the leader ship of leader of the House has always been credited for construction and initiation for people friendly projects, therefore, I strongly suggest that this just, rightful and factually needed project may be considered for construction”.

Sharing the other benefits of the demanded facility, the resolution added that besides a needed project for the well-being for the people of Azad Kashmir especially people of Mirpur Division, it shall also serve as a Travel Port for the surrounding areas like Dina, Jhelum, Kharian, even up to Gujrat, thus reducing the burden on roads and the main Airports at Lahore and Islamabad.

It added that the project shall also serve as a morale booster for expats in the USA, UK ,Europe besides and many more countries providing them much needed ease in their movement travelling to their native areas.

The resolution urged the members to consider it for discussion and approval.
