MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has visited Corona Alert IT Control Room here on Saturday and appreciated the well coordinated efforts of the state institutions to effectively react the global pandemic.
On this occasion, Secretary Information Ms. Midhat Shahzad briefed the Prime Minister on Corona Alert Management Information System and its functioning during his visit to the IT Board’s established Control Room.
Speaking to the media after the briefing, the Prime Minister appreciated the government institution’s comprehensive strategy and proactive approach to control the corona virus spread in the state.
“We have constituted several committees at district, tehsil, union council and village levels to gather the data of those who recently returned to their respective areas from abroad. These committees are not only collecting and sharing the data with concerned authorities but also educating people regarding the pandemic in their localities”, PM told.
He added that committees with the same mandate have also been formed under local government, health and other public serving institutions that are visiting door to door to gather the required information and help to aware masses.
Raja Farooq Haider lauded the general public for voluntarily extending cooperation and following the government directions during the ongoing lock down. “We need to practice social distancing until or unless the treatment of corona virus would be available”, he asserted.
He expressed gratitude to the media for their positive role in creating awareness and conveying government policies to the masses.
Earlier, in her briefing, the Secretary Information and IT Board Midhat Shahzad told Prime Minister that the control room is maintaining the digital record of all the government’s corona virus response activities.
She told that relevant agencies had provided the data of approximately 17303 foreign returned citizens of the state, which is available in the control room from 1st March onward.
The Secretary Information Technology Board further told that desks have been setup in all ten districts of the state that are engaged in contacting foreign returned persons in this and gathering information regarding their health.
She said that suspects are being referred to the concerned District Health Officers for the further screenings and tests.
Midhat informed that such database is available online at ajk.gov.pk/corona-virus/.
