ISLAMABAD,(Parliament Times): In a tactical move the central leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N) has decided to restore the party’s organizations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with a view to put an end to the rifts within the party.
Pertinently, the rift within PML_N AJ&K chapter had surfaced soon after PMLN president Shahbaz Sharif dissolved all the party’s organizations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and appointed Journalist turned politician Raja Mushtaq Minhas as chief organizer to reorganize the party along with 13 member committee. However, the decision to appoint Minhas as chief organizer had irked senior stalwarts of the party who, according to sources, had categorically rejected the committee and refused to work under the newly appointed chief organizer. Taking advantage of the situation, some of the disgruntled party leaders had even started weighing options to join other political parties to carry on their political journey. Sensing the emerging situation, sources say, that the central leadership after reviewing the situation adopted a new strategy, withdrew its earlier decision and reinstated the former organizations to satisfy the old-guards of the party.
AS per the new arrangement the incumbent minister for information, tourism and IT Mushtaq Minhas has been allotted the same portfolio i.e. chief organizer PML-N AJK, which amply demonstrated his extra-ordinary influence and position at the center. Sources said that the decision to persuade and placate the dissenting voices have left little room for dissenters to exploit the situation. “After this decision if some bigwigs of the party want to take different course of action or to join some other party it would further reduce their stature and credibility in the party”, the sources added.
