Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times ) The Clean and Green Pakistan Programme of Prime Minister of Pakistan was historic initiative with regard to create pollution free as well as healthy environment in the greater interest of masses and it must be implemented with participatory approach of all government departments and civil society. This was stated by the Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt. ® Muhammad Mehmood while commenting upon the responsibilities and activities of government departments in implementation on clean and Green Pakistan Index in Rawalpindi Division. The Commissioner Rawalpindi stated that Clean and Green Pakistan initiative was being implemented under strict monitoring in all the four Districts of Rawalpindi Division. The Monitoring mechanism was designed in such a manner that all the specifications of said public health friendly initiative are completed without any delay , he added and said the activities continuing in the Division include improvement of sewerage and Drainage system for proper sanitation, tree plantation for combating pollution, provision of clean drinking water, renovation as well as beautification of public parks and development of green belts along urban roads. He concluded that activities continuing under Clean and Green Pakistan Programme would also create a sense of ownership in the citizens for contributing to community development initiatives.
