    By Rafiullah Mandokhail,

ZHOB: Al least eight people including women and children died and six others injured in rain-related incidents in different parts of the district here on Monday.

According to reports, six members of the same family including three children lost their lives, when the roof of their mud-and-stone house collapsed due to heavy rain and snowfall in Killi Shahabzai area some 5 kilometers from the city. The family was temporarily residing in the village but basically belonged to Batozai sub-tribe of Killa Saifullah district. The area people soon after the incident rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies of women and children. They were shifted to civil hospital, where Deputy Commissioner Taha Saleem, District Police Officer Anwer Badini, Shah Zaman Kakar and a large number of area people reached to express their sympathy with the family.

“All the victims got trapped under the debris. Three women and three children are among the dead”, DC confirmed on the occasion.

According to the area people, the room they were residing in had developed cracks due to recent torrential rains, which could be the reason behind its collapse.

Meanwhile, in New Nasarabad area of the city, the family of Ahwal Khan Barkhail was sleeping in a room of their mud-house, when its roof caved in at midnight. The neighbors rushed there to rescue the victims. A women and her three-year-old child died instantly while Ahwal Khan got serious injuries.

“The whole family was trapped in debris when the roof collapsed as they were sleeping,” a police official Haji Muhammad Zimri said.

The bodies of the ill-fated family have been retrieved from the debris.

Separately, five persons sustained serious injuries when their car over turned due to slippery road following rain and snowfall near Khwreena area on Zhob-D.I Khan highway. The injured were shifted to DHQ civil hospital. Levies sources said.
