Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Implementation Committee has been notified to
undertake activities under “Clean and Green Pakistan Index Ranking” in
Rawalpindi. Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Saif Ullah Dogar chaired its
meeting in his committee room on Thursday. Addl. DC (G) Zaheer Anwar
Jappah, MD, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Awais
Manzoor Tarrar, CEO Health Dr. Ch. Muhammad Suhail, Director Public
Relations Rawalpindi Division Hamid Javaid Awan, Dy. Director Local
Government & Community Development (LG&CD) Jehangir Akhter Mirza and
officers of all concerned department attended the meeting.
Jehangir Akhter Mirza, Dy. Director LG&CD while giving detailed briefing
said that implementation plan has been chalked out to achieve the objectives
of Clean & Green Pakistan Index Ranking in Rawalpindi.
DC Rawalpindi Saif Ullah Dogar elaborated the functions of government
departments and allied organizations with regard to afforestation, water and
sanitation, cleanliness, beautification, public awareness, removal of
encroachments, provision of clean drinking water, water conservation,
maintenance of public facilities and other matters of similar nature. He said
that it is the prime obligation of all concerned departments to ensure
collaborated efforts and work as team member to improve the working as well
as environmental conditions with active involvement of community members.
Saif Ullah Dogar said that instructions have been issued by the Chief Minister
Punjab, Chief Secretary Punjab and Divisional Commissioner Rawalpindi
regarding strict compliance of directions to achieve hundred per cent targets
of Clean & Green Pakistan Index Ranking. He said that proper monitoring and
evaluation strategy should also be adopted to evaluate the performance of all
departments on weekly basis. He issued directives for preparation of mass
awareness plan to associate all concerns for public awareness and outreach
with regard to implementation of Clean & Green Pakistan Index Ranking.
Matters pertaining to de-silting of local nullahs including Nullah Lehi also came
under discussion and concerned departments were asked to complete their
plans according to the laid down schedule. DC Rawalpindi asked all related
departments to finalize their action plan as soon as possible and initiate
practical working without any delay.
