ZHOB: On the directives of Adviser to Chief Minister Balochistan on Livestock and Dairy Development Mitha Khan Kakar, Livestock and Dairy Development department Zhob vaccinated hundreds of animals including sheep, goats and cows in far-off hilly areas of the district during a two-day free veterinary vaccination camp.

According to Deputy Director Dr. Naseebullah Kakar ahead of winter season, the veterinary team visited different villages and vaccinated the cattle in union council Mir Ali Khail and Sangay Ghar Essazai village the hilly areas of the district. The team comprising Dr. Hameedullah Mandokhail, Dr. Dad Khan Babar, Stock Assistant Shafiq Mandokhail and Zahir Shah Mandokhail who left no stone unturned to vaccinate the cattle in the remote parts of the district.

“The veterinary team treated and vaccinated hundreds of cattle to prevent animal diseases ahead of winter season. Veterinary medicines have also been distributed among the cattle owners,’ he said. Besides the vaccination he said that the dairy farmers have also been educated about symptoms of various diseases, so they could provide first aid to their cattle in case of an emergency. He urged them to stay in contact with the veterinary officials.

“The cattle owners have been asked to take advantage of the vaccination drive in their respective areas to make sure that each and every animal is vaccinated,” he added.

Livestock is an important sector of the rural economy after agriculture. The far-flung areas of Zhob are rich in livestock, where hundreds of herds can be seen grazing in the lush green pastures. The main source of income is there livestock and the hardy people basically meet all their needs from goats and sheep. Zhob valley’s pasture land extends hundreds kilometers. The cattle owners believe that there is a huge potential to increase dairy production, if the livestock breed is improved on priority basis. CM Adviser Mitha Khan Kakar vowed to develop and put the sector on modern lines.
