NEW YORK: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres while expressing grave concern over continuing atrocities and curfew in Occupied Kashmir has asked Pakistan and India to go for talks.
After the passage of 60 days of Indian onslaught in Occupied Kashmir UN Secretary General statement has come to fore wherein he has expressed his grave concern over prevailing situation in Indian Held Kashmir. He has said both Pakistan and India should hold talks with each other.
In a statement made to the press UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the situation in Kashmir was worsening, where nearly eight million people are living in an open prison without their basic rights.
The spokesman added that the UN Secretary General remained concerned over the grave situation in occupied Kashmir and again urged India and Pakistan to hold dialogue to resolve the crisis.
The spokesman further added that the UN chief had underscored the need for addressing human rights of Kashmiri people in order to resolve the crisis.
UN spokesman clarified that the Secretary General’s position on Kashmir has not changed, adding that human rights’ issues needed to be addressed, and to be placed at the forefront when easing tensions.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had met with UN Secretary General during his visit to US and had discussed Kashmir issue with him. Imran Khan had also delivered speech in UN General Assembly on Indian repression and brutalities in Occupied Kashmir.
