RAWALPINDI: Contrary to the Prime Minister’s austerity campaign, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) officials are enjoying trip to the Northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on public money, Parliament Times has learnt.
According to credible sources in RCB, the officials of the RCB revenue department are enjoying the trip of the Naran, Kaghan and other northern areas on public money as a reward of achieving the revenue target in the last financial year.
Sources said that the Revenue Department has divided the RCB jurisdiction into 10 different sector and in-charge of each sector along with its three members go for the visit on a weekly bases one by one.
Almost 35 officials including officers of the revenue department will enjoy the trip to Northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whose all expenses will be paid from Government treasure, sources added.
When contacted, the RCB spokesperson Qaiser Mahmood confirmed that revenue department officials are going to Northern areas on a weekly bases. “I am unaware of the expenses of these trips”, he added.
The outing on public tax money is not only contrary to the Prime Minister’s austerity campaign but the absence of the Revenue department staff from their offices is also creating problems for the residents of the cantonment board areas.
