RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) ceased 5 truckloads of goods during a daylong anti-encroachment drive here on Tuesday.

According to a spokesman, the RCB officials conducted raids in the cantonment areas including Sadar, Peoples Colony, Tench Bata, 22 No, Bakara Mandi and Dhamial. Pertinently, the operation against illegal construction had been going on unabated in the area to rid the city of encroachments.

Meanwhile, the RCB’s food branch officials have inspected 345 food outlets during the past one month and issued show cause notices to 126 owners for substandard food, lack of cleanliness and operating without licenses. The officials according to the statement obtained food samples of 50 items and sent to laboratory for the formal testing. Moreover, the authorities during this period were said to have recovered a revenue worth one million rupees.

On the other hand the RCB has launched cleanliness drive in the Cantonment areas ahead of the monsoon season. The cleanliness drive is aimed at de-silting of all sewerage lines to avoid any untoward incident during the monsoon rains. Cant Board has also established flood Relief cells which would operate and discharge its duties round the clock.
