Letter to Editor,

Developed nations pay special attention towards their education and health sector. Which is translated into socio-economic development. On contrary to that, we live in a country where the state of education is extremely dismaying and deplorable. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), around 22.5 million children of school-going age are out of schools in Pakistan. However, ratio of girls out-numbered the boys. Rural areas are more poverty-struck areas as compared to urban areas. According to State Bank’s recent startling reports almost 29.5% population of Pakistan lives below the poverty line.

Apart from state’s traditional institutes I believe individuals can play a vital role in this regard. Considering these appalling circumstances of our society, I am staunch believer that change is possible if a well-off individual starts sponsoring the cost of education for at least one needy boy/girl by sending them to school/colleges. Such volunteer acts could lead us towards prosperity and poverty-free society. It is high time we have to realize our social responsibilities and play our role individually as well as collectively as a responsible citizens.
