MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The 3rd meeting of AJK Cabinet Development Committee chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan held here on the other day.
The meeting approved six projects costing over 3 billion 67 crore and 43 lakh rupees. These projects related to physical planning and housing, communication, works.
The meeting also approved 3 important highways projects including 35 kilometers road from Athmuqam to Dudniyal, Kel to Tao Butt (first phase 22 km and 30 kilometers road from Khaigala toTolipeer and Tolipeer to Lasdanna. These roads, on completion, would not only provide better travelling facilities to the people of the areas but also play an important role in promotion of tourism, the meeting was told. Under another project jail building would be constructed in district headquarter Bhimber.
Additional Chief Secretary Development Dr. Syed Asif Hussain gave briefing to the meeting on the ongoing development process in the State.
Addressing the meeting Prime Minister said that development process continues in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the secretaries to ensure effective monitoring of development projects of their respective departments so that all the projects are completed in stipulated time.
The Premier said PML-N government was implementing its priorities and added that development of AJK was included in the party agenda. He said the projects which were left incomplete due to paucity of funds would be completed by his government. The funds that have been spent on those projects should not go waste, he stated.
He said provision of potable water was one of the top priority of his government therefore water supply schemes would be completed all over AJK. He pointed out that there are complaints of substandard work on Neelum highway from Chehla Bandi onward. He urged the secretary works to take notice of it and monitor the standard of work. He directed for construction of way station on the roads that are to be constructed to ensure that overweighty vehicles do not damage the road.
