ISLAMABAD: Government has decided to upgrade cancer department of PIMS rather than constructing a separate cancer hospital in federal capital and has accorded approval to provide funds on this count.

According to media reports government has approved to transfer the budget allocated for cancer hospital to PIMS besides releasing Rs 106 million initially for upgradation of cancer ward in PIMS during the current fiscal year.
Under this project a diagnostic centre will be set up in PIMS for diagnosing cancer and a separate ward will be constructed for cancer patients therein.

Federal government had evolved a project to construct a separate cancer hospital at the cost of over Rs 1.99 billion and now approval has been accorded to transfer this amount to PIMS hospital. This amount will be spent to upgrade cancer ward therein.
