MIRPUR (AJK): Azad Jammu Kashmir has been put on high alert to deal with any eventuality in case of any emergency following the prevailing tension caused by the recent aggressive Indian posture at the Line Of Control and the working boundary.

All the district administrations have been put on high alert to deal with any emergent situation. District Control Rooms have been set up at the Deputy Commissioners’ offices at almost all AJK district headquarters including the largest Kotli, Mirpur and Bhimb her districts in Mirpur division.

Leaves of the employees of all of the state-run institutions have been cancelled and all the public servants have been advised to remain alert round the clock to receive further directions from the respective district control rooms in case of any emergency, official sources told this Correspondent when contacted on Thursday.

All educational institutions including public and private sector universities, colleges and schools across AJK, operating under the control of the State High Education Secretariat and the Primary Education Secretariat, have been closed with immediate effec till further orders in view of the escalation of situation at the LoC besides overall current situation in the country, according to the seperate official orders issued by AJK Education Secretariat and the State Higher Education Secretariat of AJK Government.

“However the administrative officers will remain present at their places of duties and the heads of the educational institutions will remain in contact with their subordinate staff to secure their services as and when required in case of emergency”, the official announcement said.

In Mirpur division, the district administrations of three districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher have been put on high alert for round the clock to deal with any eventuality, according to Mirpur Division Commissioner Muhammad Tayyeb Choudhry, when contacted by APP Wednesday night.

Following the AJK government’s directives, Mirpur DC Sardar Adnnan Khursheed last night summoned an emergent meeting of the district heads of all the nation-building institutions and ordered for remaining alert and vigilant 24 / 7 to deal with any untoward situation following the prevailing unrest at the LoC, sparked following the reported aggressive Indian posture since Monday last particularly.

Addressing the meeting the DC advised the State Health Department to ensure round-the-clock presence of the doctors and para medical staff at the Divisional Headquarters Hospital at Mirpur and the subordinate sub divisional hospital and health centers in the district.

The DC directed the State Food Department, Rescue 1122, civil defense department, Highways Department and private and public sector blood banks running by various NGOs and social welfare institutions to be alert and vigilant ensuring the swift delivery of their respective services during any emergent situation

Adnan Khursheed particularly advised for putting all the ambulance services exceptionally alert and keeping the required machinery and equipment related to the services to safety and security of the human lives in moving form.

The DC revealed about setting up of the control room at his office to monitor, receive and disseminate the required information about the overall situation in case of any emergency.

The meeting also reviewed in detail all requisite steps for ensure the uninterrupted communications and maintaining the overall law and order situation.

Besides the district police chief SSP Syed Riaz Bukhari, officials of the district administration, Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital, District Health Officer Dr. Fida Hussain and district heads of all other departments attended the meeting. Ends
