MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Ch. Ibrahim Zia inaugurated spring tree plantation drive by planting a sapling in the lawn of Supreme Court building on Monday.
Senior judge SC Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan and Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal also planted saplings.
Talking to media CJ Zia said trees are essential for environmental pollution, greenery, tourism and soil erosion. He also urged on their protection. He emphasized the officials of forests and agriculture departments to guide the people through the help of their experts to keep in mind the land and environment while planting fruit trees.
He was of the view that if every citizen of the State plants 5 saplings, it would significantly help control soil erosion, environmental pollution and promote tourism in the State. Environment pollution has become a big issue that the world faces now, he added. He underscored the need of a comprehensive planning to overcome environment hazards and to beautify the State. He said fruit trees would help people get fruits of different kinds apart from checking the atmosphere around. He stressed the forests and agriculture departments to ensure that maximum number of saplings are planted during the spring tree plantation drive.
