Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan (ETI-GB) has signed a MoU for improvement of livelihood through agricultural development in rural areas of Gilgit Baltistan. A delegation from Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan (ETI-GB) headed by Dr. Ahsanullah Mir, Program Coordinator, ETI, GB visited PARC HQs for the purpose.

Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) is the apex national organization in Pakistan working in close collaboration with public and private sector institutions in the country to provide science based solutions for the development of agriculture in Pakistan whereas Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan, (ETI-GB) aims at improving income, reducing poverty and malnutrition in the rural areas of Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan (ETI-GB) have recognized that the roles of the two organizations are complementary and an institutional understanding and strategy to combine their potentials will synergize efforts for fast tracked development of Gilgit Baltistan. PARC and ETI-GB will sponsor joint information collection and dissemination initiatives for raising awareness on agriculture technology and skills related aspects. The facilities of the both organizations shall be utilized for the benefit of learning and sharing for greater benefit of communities of Gilgit Baltistan. Both organizations will share information for research on agriculture technologies. PARC and ETI-GB will also hold joint capacity building initiatives (trainings, workshops, seminars, exposure visits and information dissemination campaigns) to educate farmers and other value chain actors all relevant issues.

Dr. Ahsanullah Mir, Program Coordinator, Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan (ETI-GB) appreciated PARC efforts in agriculture sector and also thanked Dr. Yusuf Zafar, T.I, Chairman PARC who has kindly consented to get MoU signed between Economic Transformation Initiative Program, Gilgit Baltistan (ETI-GB) and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC).
