Islamabad(Daily P.Times)Election Commission of Pakistan has finalized all arrangements for holding presidential elections on fourth of next month.
This was stated by the ECP Spokesperson Altaf Ahmed Khan while talking in Nuqta-e-Nazr Program of News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan.
ECP Spokesperson said that polling would be conducted at four places, including Parliament House in Islamabad and provincial assemblies of all the four provinces.Taking Part in the program, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak said that PTI’s nominated candidate will easily win the election. He said the two nominees of opposition for president are expected to split the opposition’s vote bank, providing a virtual walkover to Dr. Arif Alvi. The Defence Minister said PTI has a unique agenda of wiping out the menace of corruption from the country. Former Secretary of the Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad said the president is elected through a secret ballot by Electoral College which comprises of National Assembly, Senate and the four provincial assemblies. Kanwar Dilshad said after the 18th amendment, the powers of President to dissolve the Parliament unilaterally have been removed. He said it is a common practice that the president is always from the ruling party. Taking part in program renowned economist Dr. Alia H. Khan said PTI government has already announced austerity measures and is trying to reduce expenditures in the public sector. She said tax collection system will be the main tool to take the country out of economic crises. Industrialist Dr. Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig said the current government came into power with a slogan of change but it has to face a number of economic challenges.
