Communicable diseases in children, is one of the major health issue in our country. Although there have been improvements in the prevention and control of these diseases. Families with sick members face financial and emotional problems. In educational institutions, absenteeism due to infections affect student learning. Community people become at risk when epidemics happen, interrupting work and other productive activities. In order to free ourselves from problems brought by diseases, we need to protect ourselves through good personal and environmental health practices.
School Education Department, Punjab has issued a circular regarding availability of towels, bathing soaps in the washrooms of all schools of this province. MEAs also checking the availability of these things by paying surprise visits. It is important to point out that only 01 towel and 01 bathing soap is provided for all students of a school. All students are using the same towel and bathing soap, which is not fair and good for health. Many students are suffered with different diseases and infections and by using said towel and soap they are transmitting to others, who are enjoying good health. They are spreading diseases and infections peripatetically.
INFECTIONS AND DISEASES SPREAD BY SHARING TOWELS, Can towels spread germs? Yes, clothes and towels can spread germs. There are three main ways that germs are spread by towels. First, when towels are used by more than one person germs can spread between them. Second, when someone handles dirty laundry they can spread germs onto their hands. Third, when clothes are washed, germs can spread between items in the process of being washed. Following are the infections and diseases which can spread by sharing towels. Many people don’t know that sharing bathing soap is one of the easiest ways deadly infections transmit. Health experts discourage people from sharing bathing soaps even if it is among family members. Following are the three infections you can easily contract by sharing bathing soap:
Chickenpox: It is also known as varicella and is a highly contagious viral infection caused by the varicella virus. It appears in form of red itchy boils that attacks the whole body. The red boils itch-producing blood and pus when touched or scrubbed.It can also be transmitted through sharing of bathing soap and other personal hygienic items.
Ringworms: It is also known as dermatophytosis or tines.It is a fungal infection of the skin transmitted through sharing of clothes and bathing soap among infected person. Ringworms appear in form of boils or blisters that affect the skin and the scalp.It also affects the feet, groin, beard and other body parts.
Genital Herpes: It is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases caused by the herpes simplex virus. It occurs inform of cold sores or blisters that attack the genital parts. Apart from being transmitted sexually, Genital herpes Amos transmits by direct contact with infected persons and through sharing of hygienic items like soap. Healthexpert’sadvice people to avoid sharing soap and recommend for everyone to have his or her own soap. In cases where sharing is inevitable, it is advisable for one to rinse the soap before applying it to avoid these dangerous infections.3 infections you can easily contract by sharing bathing soap.
Now question arises that if towels and bathing soaps using in educational institutions are increasing the numbers of patients then what should we do? Answer is that we can replace them by such kind of materials and machines, which are helping us in spreading of severe infections. It is suggested that towels can be replaced with hand dryer machines and bathing soaps with hand wash liquids in the best interest of health. This can also save our extra incurring expenditure like purchase of washing soaps or surf to wash towels.
