Sargodha: 4th International Conference on Pure and Applied Mathematics organized by the Department of Mathematics, Sargodha University concluded here on Saturday highlighting the role of Math in thinking logically about the situation as social progress depends on scientific innovation.
The conference provided an excellent venue for academics, researchers, professionals, practitioners to share and discuss
research findings, experiences, and practical issues with international eminent mathematicians. It also served the purpose of introducing Pakistani culture and society to the foreign delegates for improving better relationship between Pakistani mathematicians and their counterparts in other countries.
In two-day International Conference about 62 international and national esteemed research scholars of mathematics across
the world including China, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Iraq and United Arab Emirates read the research papers and shared ideas,
research studies and articles to disperse greater acquaintance of latest trends in the field of mathematics.
International speakers expressed appreciation of the good quality of research papers read at the conference and gratitude
for the hospitality rendered to them. They were of the view that events like this introduced Pakistan very well to the global mathematical community. Further, it was unanimously resolved that there is a dire need to uplift mathematics in Pakistan.
The research, teaching, and curriculum of mathematics need to be improved and the government needs to be urged to take
serious note of the state of mathematics.
DR Lyoubomira Softova from University of Salerno, Italy expresses her interest in collaborative research work with the
mathematicians of Sargodha University and said that such conferences provided best place to find collaborators within
country and outside of the country.
DR Erhan Set from Ordu University, Turkey informed the conference that he will publish the conference proceedings in
international ISI journal which recognized by the HEC, Pakistan.
DR Marjan Praljak from University of Zagreb, Croatia presented his research paper on “Positivity of weighted averages of
higher order convex function and informed the conference about the results obtained by finding suitable representations of
polynomial part and the error term in appropriate form.
A renowned academic figure of Iraq, DR Nabeel Ezzulddin Arif sharing his findings on “Topological indices of certain edge-
gluing graphs with some application said that eccentricity connectivity, sum connectivity and forgotten indices were most
popular topological indices and used in wide spectrum of application in graphs and chemical graph theory.
Assistant professor from Huanghuai University, China,Dr Xiaomin Qi shared his views on “Support vector machine and
generalized support vector machine for data classification and emphasized on new methods for data separation by using
support vector and generalized support vector machine as a powerful tool for data classification.
Dr Muhammad Abbas, Chairman of the Mathematics Department, expressed that the conference will prove to be an
inspiration for our forthcoming young researchers who are about to pick out their future course of research and it will open
the new door of exposures for our students.
It is pertinent to be mentioned, this was the fourth International Conference on Pure and Applied Mathematics, a sequel of three conferences which have been organized annually since 2015 in University of Sargodha by Department of Mathematics.
