Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Maintaining its previous tradition, Lok Virsa organized festivities of Christmas in collaboration with Pur Fazal Kaliseya Church Pakistan on 20th December 2018 with a great festivity and fervor here at Shakarparian.
The objective of the celebrations is to express a message of solidarity and unity to the Christian community through a cultural perspective.
Special programs marking the day held at the Pakistan National Museum of Ethnology (Heritage Museum) included congregation of Christian community, Christmas cake cutting ceremony, erection of Christmas tree, distribution of sweets and gifts by Santa Claus, live folk musical performances and cultural diversity shows.
The Executive Director Lok Virsa Mrs. Shahera Shahid performed the cake cutting ceremony. H.E. Mr. Ivan Ivanissevich, Ambassador of Argentina, Ms Maha Al-Aswad, Charge d’ Affairs, Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic and some other diplomats were also present at the occasion.
The festivities started with the cake cutting ceremony in which all the guests and participants joined hands in cutting the special Christmas cake.
Mr. Jeremiah Pervez, Chairman and Pastor Pervez Sohail, Founder, Pur Fazal Kaliseya Pakistan spoke on behalf of the Christian community. They said “Christmas is a time for celebration and rejoicing. It is also a time to reflect on the message of Jesus Christ, the eternal message of love, peace and forgiveness and events like this are instrumental in promoting national unity, fraternity and brotherhood among the people of Pakistan”. They also said “Christian community in Pakistan is enjoying the status as per vision of founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah”.
Mrs. Shahera Shahid, Executive Director Lok Virsa shed light on the importance of celebrating Christmas through a cultural perspective. She also congratulated Christian community on their auspicious occasion.
