Every Pakistani deserves equality, justice and human dignity: Altaf Shakoor

Karachi: To make Pakistan a true civilized society, it is necessary that the government accepts and ensures that every Pakistani citizen deserves equality, justice and human dignity, said Pasban Democratic Party President Altaf Shakoor.
In a statement on the occasion of the international human rights day, he said the constitution of Pakistan guarantees basic rights to all citizens, but the Wadera and elite class, vested interests and corrupt politicians are the main hurdle in realization of the legal and constitutional rights of the common Pakistani citizens. He said the rich and elite class enjoys all rights and privileges, while the common man is deprived of their basic rights. He said in order to become a just-based society justice should be doled out to each and every citizen, irrespective of their class, creed, color, economic and social status.
Altaf Shakoor said the human rights day is observed every year on 10 December – the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year, Human Rights Day marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone document that proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being — regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Pasban leader said the secret of the success of all developed nation is that they strictly defend the basic rights of citizens and ensure that justice would be doled out to all without any discrimination at every cost. He said sadly in our country the constitution and law are not being implemented in true manner when it is the matter of interests of poor and downtrodden people.
He said the lack of education, healthcare, job and shelter facilities as required to be given under the constitutional provisions is self-evident that the rulers of Pakistan do not believe in basic human rights of people and they are not ready to give equality, justice and human dignity to the poor and marginalized sections of society.
He said poverty and hunger are on the rise also in ‘Naya Pakistan’. He said the citizens even today witness the same VIP culture, same level of arrogance and ignorance and same level of bureaucratic corruption and incompetence in the country. He said in these circumstances the dream of true basic rights to all people seems a pipe dream. He said the government lacks both courage and vision to make Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state, in which all basic rights of citizens are strictly safeguarded. He said millions of citizens of Pakistan do not get even clean drinking water.
He said a large number of people are suffering due to delayed justice, as our courts are not capable to manage workload. He said same situations could be seen in hospitals and healthcare centers. He said our education system is also in shambles. Instead of giving people shelter their houses and shops are being razed. He said this maladministration only compounds the sufferings of poor people and snatch even the residual basic rights from them.
Altaf Shakoor demanded that the government and all constitutional institutions should discharge their respective duties honestly to ensure improving the prevailing dismal human rights conditions in Pakistan and making it a true just-based civilized welfare society. He said we should individually and collectively strive so that each and every Pakistan enjoys equality, justice and human dignity.
