SC rejects govt plea for appointment of new IG in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has rejected government plea seeking permission for appointment of new Inspector General (IG) Police in Islamabad.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing federal government petition in connection with appointment of new IG Police in federal capital on Thursday.
Attorney General (AG) Khalid Javed took the plea that law and order situation in the country is not better. Therefore, apex court should accord permission for induction of new IG in Islamabad in prevailing situation.
The court while rejecting government plea for granting permission on appointment of new IG police remarked how can we give immediate permission for appointment of IG. Give additional charge of IG to some one else instead of appointing a new IG.
The CJP remarked during the hearing of the case “ state should see its responsibility. Dispensing justice is not job of only courts.
“Blasphemy is not tolerable by any one. If blasphemy case is not formed in Asia Bibi case then how can we award punishment. People should read judgment”, he observed.
CJP further remarked the judges who have given verdict in Asia Bibi case are not less “Ashiq-e-Rasool” (PBUH) than any one else. Several judges while sitting on bench continue to recite Darood Sharif on beads of rosary.
He observed “ our faith is not complete without upholding finality of Prophethood. We are ready to be martyred on “ Namoos-e-Risalat” (finality of Prophethood).
It may be pointed out that federal government had removed IG Islamabad Jan Muhammad from his office a few days earlier and the CJP while taking suo motu notice of it had suspended his transfer order.
