LAHORE: Hike in the prices of petroleum products by government has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
Federal government, ministry of petroleum and NEPRA have been made respondents in the petition.
The petitioner has taken plea that increase in the prices of petroleum products is violation of the constitution. Despite decrease in the prices of petroleum products in international market, prices of petroleum products are being increased illegally every month by the government in Pakistan.
He took the ground that government has dropped petrol bomb shell on the citizens by scaling up the prices illegally rather than scaling down them. Government is already charging 17 percent additional sales tax illegally on petroleum products.
The petitioner prayed the court to declare null and void the recent hike in prices of petroleum products.
