Islamabad: The government has decided to provide free cancer medicines to 400 patients under public private partnership.
As per media reports, Government under public private partnership has planned to provide free cancer medicines to almost 400 patients of Islamabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Balistan in next 5 years.
A meeting was headed by Federal Minister of Health Amir Mehmood Kiani to review the progress of supplying free medicines to cancer patients.
CEO Drug Regularity Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Novartis Company and representatives of other related institutions participated in meeting.
Novartis forma has briefed meeting participants about the contours of plan made to supply free medicines to cancer patients and said that this plan will ensure provision of free medicines for 7 different types of cancer to patients of Islamabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. In which Federal government will bear 9% while Novartis Company will bear 91% expenses. Total cost of this plan is Rs 410 million.
