Islamabad: The protest staged by Utility Stores Corporation (USC) employees entered the second consecutive day on Tuesday here in D-Chowk, Islamabad.
The USC employees staged protest on Tuesday demanding increase in their salaries and permanent jobs.
The protesters said that their salaries were not increased for last two years and almost 5000 employees were working on ad hoc basis.
The protesters spent whole night out at D-Chowk and threatened to enter the Parliament if their woes were not addressed.
Earlier on Monday thousands of USC employees protested against the privatization of USC at D-Chowk. They were barred from entering the Parliament House by Police contingents. Protestor from across the country gathered outside the Head office of USC and marched towards D-Chowk against the decision of government to privatize the corporation.
Despite the assurance of Special Advisor to Prime Minister (PM), Naeem Ulhaq the protestor continued the protest demanding written assurance from the Government.
The Police blocked the way leading towards Parliament House after the protestors threatened to enter the Parliament.
CBA Chairman Syed Arif Husain, President Rafiq Qureshi, Secretary General Anwar Waqar Chaudhry, Jamat Islami leader Mian Aslam, Pakistan Peoples’ Party leader Faisal Karim Kundi addressed the participants of the protest.
They said the Government was compelling the poor ones “to commit suicide”. They also demanded the government to revoke its decision of privatizing the corporation.
