Altaf Hamid Rao,
MIRPUR (AJK): The fast-deteriorating situation in Indian-held Jammu Kashmir state following the recent renewed wave of extreme violence and state terrorism unleashed against the innocent Kashmiris in the occupied valley have even pained the Indian civil society who have feared that the prevailing unconcerned policy of the Indian government over the above ugly situation in the Indian-occupied Jammu Kashmir could lead to disaster, says a report reaching here Tuesday from across the line of control.
In a joint statement top Indian Civil Society stalwarts representing various segments including
Wajahat Habibullah, Yashwant Sinha, Kapil Kak, Bharat Bhushan, Sushobha Barve said in a statement “we are deeply pained at the recent escalation of violence in Kashmir and at the loss of innocent civilians lives.
The “local body elections” could have been planned with sensitive political forethought and as part of a consultative process for more inclusive and extensive participation.
The issue of J&K is so sensitive that it is a sin to use it for petty political gains.
The situation is deteriorating by the day in that state and the GOI remains unconcerned. This policy will only lead to disaster”, they concluded in the joint statement, according to the report. Ends
