MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) Prime Minister AJK assures that his government was taking tangible measures to resolve the problems of overseas Kashmiris.
Talking to overseas Kashmiri delegation led by overseas commissioner Raja Zubair Iqbal Kiani that called on him here on Tuesday, the Premier said fast track facilitation center are being set up in AJK. He said overseas commissions have been set up at government level and added that overseas commissioners would be appointed along with their coordinators in all the districts of the State.
Mr. Haider said overseas Kashmiris would be provided with best facilities for investment in tourism and other sectors in the State. He said AJK had enormous potential for investment in hydropower, mineral and tourism sectors and overseas Kashmiris could take full advantage of it.
Mr. Haider admitted the contribution of overseas Kashmiris in highlighting Kashmir issue over the globe. He asked them to intensify their efforts to expose fresh wave of atrocities of Indian forces against Kashmiris in IHK. He acknowledged that overseas Kashmiris are an asset to us in the growth and development of the State.
Meanwhile taking strict view of failure of sewerage system in Muzaffarabad the Prime Minister ordered a probe into the matter. He also directed Public Health and Physical Planning departments to coordinate with Municipal Corporation to find a solution to the sewerage problem in the capital city. He also directed the local government to design the project at division level in the beginning and forward their proposals to government for supplying modern machinery to the concerned corporations.
Other day the PM was told in a briefing by Additional Chief Secretary Development and Secretary Local Government and Rural Development that MCDP had to lay down 109 km sewerage line and to link it with treatment plant but they could manage to lay only 72 km line and pipes were left in the ground without drainage at more than 31 places. It resulted into the sewerage problem in Muzaffarabad. Now all these lines needed to be linked with treatment plant.
AJK PM expressed his displeasure over it and said this work should have been completed by physical planning and housing department in time. He directed the concerned departments to immediately complete the remaining work and ensure a flawless sewerage system of the city. He said he discussed the sewerage treatment plants with Prime Minister of Pakistan in his meeting with him. He said the water would be left into river after proper treatment for which funds would be sought from WAPDA.
