MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has increased the financial help of deserving women from Rs. 4834 to 5000 after every three months.
This was disclosed by Regional Manager BISP Raja Kaleemullah Khan here on Saturday on return of his surprise visit to Poonch. He said government was determined to provide financial assistance to poor, destitute and deserving women of the State.
Cautioning the officials of postal service, Benazir debit card and representatives of point of sale, Khan said it is your responsibility to ensure that the money reaches those it was meant for. He said BISP was separately paying service charges for transparent service to send the amount to the women.
Directing the Tehsil staffers to accelerate process of monitoring, Khan said it is endeavor of the government to make this process transparent. He also assured the women that they would be provided all possible facilities of receiving the BISP amount.
The RM pointed out that complaints poured in by the people to their field staff that there were some elements who were trying to dupe them through fake calls or messages on cell phone that BISP had announced a specific amount to support them. Such thugs must be reported to law enforcers who are also taking action against them at their part. Khan made it clear that BISP sends its amount to the deserving women only through postal service or Benazir debit card. It does not transmit any message or call in connection with its payments.
The Regional Director asked the women receiving BISP help to report to the nearest center in case they get any fake call or message with regard to payments. The Fraud Detection Committee of BISP after scrutinizing the complaints would take appropriate action against the middle man or others involved in corruption who want to deprive the deserving ladies of their finance assistance.
