MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK Forest Minister Sardar Mir Akbar Khan has appealed the OIC and other human rights organizations to take steps to prevent India from committing gross human rights abuses in IHK.
Speaking to journalists here on Thursday Khan observed that there is a fresh wave of HR abuses, state terrorism and killing spree of people in Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded the UN to arrange a human rights commission to monitor the situation of human rights in the valley. He also appealed to the OIC to call upon UNSC to appoint a special envoy for resolving Kashmiri issue in accordance with UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
Khan noted that the motives of India were aggressive and dangerous. On one hand she was massacring the people in the held valley while on the other it was terrorizing people of AJK living near border. “Indian forces committed an act of cowardice by opening firing on a civilian chopper of AJK which is a clear proof of warmongering by India” he said. He said Indian forces after their failure to curb the freedom struggle are giving vent to their frustration by shelling from across the border on civilian population of AJK.
Khan said that human rights reports of international organizations have called for ending human rights abuses in the held valley and security council’s role for a peaceful settlement of longstanding Kashmir issue, but India gives a damn to these reports. He cautioned that if Jammu and Kashmir was left unresolved it can trigger a worst situation in the region.
