RAWALAKOT: (Parliament Times) The AJK Minister for Sports, Youth and Culture Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed has said government was working on a comprehensive planning for promotion of tourism in AJK.
Addressing a function at Ghorimar near Tolipeer on the other day organized in line with International Tourism Day. It was attended by a rally of over fifty bikers from Pakistan. Saeed was very impressed by the natural beauty of Poonch, especially Tolipeer and Banjosa and assured that government would upgrade facilities of these areas to attract more tourists to these picnic destinations.
Addressing the function AJK Secretary Tourism Midat Shahzad acknowledged that AJK was one of the breathtakingly beautiful places of the world which could be turned into a model region for tourists. She said pearl valley and other parts of Poonch were gifted with lovely resorts of natural beauty. Government she said aims at providing international standard facilities for promotion of tourism and to overcome the unemployment in the area. She expressed hope that with the completion of tourism corridor in AJK there would be large influx of tourists from all parts of the country.
Addressing on the occasion Director Tourism Khalid Mehmood Saqib said that Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and Tourism Minister Mushtaq Minhas are taking keen interest in tourism sector. He said soon the infrastructure especially roads connecting to picnic destinations would be reconditioned to provide better travelling facilities to the tourists.
The function was attended by Assistant Director Mushtaq Ganhai, Asstt. Commissioner Usman Mumtaz, Professors of Poonch medical college and a large number of people of the area.
Earlier the bikers of rally from Pakistan were accorded warm welcome at Azad Pattan, Mutial Maira and Tolipeer.
