Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Friday expressed resentment over poor performance of Anti-graft Watchdog and induction of PSO higher management for heavy salaries.
The top court expressed these resentments during hearing of a case pertaining to increase in the petroleum products.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar questioned, “In which capacity a private lawyer appeared in the court? You didn’t know about Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s verdict in this regard, he questioned.
The chief justice remarked the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has been ruined by the ‘corrupt’ higher management, questioning why the PSO managing director was appointed for a heavy salary.
The apex court judge questioned whether the managing director was an Aristotle? Pakistan has a limited resources country and we need to run its departments within available resources.
The CJ questioned, “Why a private lawyer appeared in the court? Improved your own house first, the top court judged further remarked.
Mian Saqib Nisar further questioned,”Why former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had hired the PSO managing director, adding it seems like the hiring was outcome of personal like or dislike.
Censuring the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) poor performance, the chief justice questioned how many inquires the NAB has made so far?
He asked the NAB chairman to come in the chamber and brief the court about its performance. The apex court judge said in practically the NAB has done nothing praise worthy, except arrival and departure.
“We will change the entire structure of NAB,” the chief justice remarked. The NAB made comprehensive media coverage to highlight its performance and the court fully supported it. He questioned whether the court support to the ant-graft body was insufficient?
What else the court can do in this regard?
The top court judged remarked that the public should observed improvement in the country affairs. The court hopes that improvement should not be limited to paper work.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked not only managing director but many others were also inducted on heavy salaries. PSO general manager’s salary is Rs1.4 million and general manager HR receives Rs1.3 million per month.
