Islamabad: Government has decided to set up a new city for homeless persons at Dheela between Kallar Kahar and Bhera.
According to media reports, Federal and provincial Governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have decided to provide homes to homeless persons.
Government has named this scheme as “Apna Ghar Scheme. An authority will be set up on this count which is to be formally announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Oct 9.
Federal and provincial governments have decided to seek application from homeless persons in the mid of October in this regard.
Resolutions regarding provision of homes to homeless people will also be tabled in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies respectively.
Moreover an authority in the name of Apna Ghar would be formed to work for provision of homes to homeless persons.
Resolution will be got passed in Punjab and KP assemblies for establishment of this authority and later it will be recommended to federal government to legislate in this regard.
Basic data will be collected pertaining to demand of homes and the category of people filing applications through the applications to be invited from October 15
A form will be worked out with the help of NADRA. This form will be filed with nominal fee by the applicants. This form will help federal and provincial governments assess how much demand has come from the people for setting up new city and how many homeless persons are there and what is their financial position.
Later it will be decided to construct houses of 3 Marla’s, 5 Marla’s and 8 Marla.
Registration process will be started after the project is inaugurated by PM Imran Khan.
