Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has strongly condemned the killing of APHC activist, Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani and described it as a terrible incident.
Unidentified gunmen fired upon the APHC activist, Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani, outside his home at Reshipora Bomai in Sopore the other day. He was immediately shifted to Sopore hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani had played a very important role during the 2016 uprising due to which he was sent to jail and was released three months ago. He said that the purpose of his killing was to frighten the freedom-loving people especially the youth.
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman also denounced the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on Shopian youth including Afrad Mohammad Hussain Wagay, Ghulam Jeelani, Abid Ahmad Shah, Faisal Ameen Mir, Shakeel Ahmad Thaker, Imtiaz Ahmad Dar, Lateef Dar, Bilal Ahmad Butt and Sabzar Ahmad Mir and keeping Umar Aadil Dar with habitual criminals in Kathua jail, Jammu.
He also appealed to the international human rights organizations to take notice of the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.
