Pakistan Army is a land-based force of Pakistan Armed Forces. It came into existence with the independence of the country. It has started its operations with almost zero level of arms and ammunition. With the passage of time, Pak Army became independent in building arms and ammunition and the professional capabilities reached to the highest level. Pakistan Army is ranked as one of the best armies of the world. They have proved their abilities the best in war as well as peace. Recently, Pakistan Army won international military drill competition known as Pace Sticking Competition held at Royal Academy Sandhurst, United Kingdom (UK). On 13th April 2018, Pakistan Army Cadet Sheroz Shahid has won overseas International Medal. He was awarded for highest performance in education, training, and Physical fitness fields. This competition was held after 2-month training. A team of Pakistan military academy won the 90th competition. This team has participated in this competition for the first time.
Looking back to history; Pakistan army has many international achievements in their credit. Among the difficult exercises and competitions “Exercise Cambrian Patrol” stands on top. In this exercise, participants have to cover 50 Miles (80KM) in less than 48 hours. The exercises are held annually since 1960. The world top class armies take part in this competition. This competition is consisting of marching over Cambrian Mountains, crossing deserts shooting match on the Senny Bridge Training Area. It is physically challenging and arduous exercise, concentrate on teamwork. The participants of this competition are well-trained army personnel from across the globe. A team of Pakistan Army has won a gold medal in 2017. In the last 12 years, the Pakistan Army won maximum Gold medals among other. Hence became the toppers internationally.
Writing more, Pak Army conducts humanitarian rescues within the country as well as internationally. Hence Pak Army is playing a key role in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions. Especially, the role of Pak Army in rescuing US Soldiers trapped in Somalia (1993) and Bosnian War 1992-1995. From 1960 to 1964, Pak army was in troops of international forces to prevent intervention in and preserve territory of Congo. From 2003 to till date, Troops of Pak Army are working to monitor cease-fire during the transition of Irian from Dutch rule to Indonesia. Pak Army contributed to UN security forces as a military observer in Yemen, since Jan 1964 to Sep 1964. From April 1991 to 2003, Pak Army personnel remained in UN military observer mission deployed in Iraq and Kuwait. They are also performing their duties in Referendum held at Western Sahara. In Namibia, Pak Army was in military Observer group since 1989 to 1990.
Within the country on 5th May 2018, a joint exercise of Pakistan army and Pakistan air force was conducted. In these exercises, both of the forces have shown their capabilities to fight. Pak Army fought 3 international wars and many operations were conducted within the country. Right after independence Pak Army was indulged in a war with India. The Indian conspiracies continued and another war was thrown on Pakistan in 1965. Later on, in 1971 another war with India was fought. Besides these international wars, the Pak Army is fighting within the country to bring peace and prosperity. In the war on terror, 10,000 Army personnel were martyred. To fight against terrorism, Pak army conducted major operations named Operation Rah-e-Raast, Operation Zarb-e-azab, and ongoing Operation Radd ul Fassad. After these successful operations, the wave of terrorism in the country is controlled.
Concluding more, within Pakistan, so-called liberal continue to throw garbage on Pakistan army. Pakistan army is also blamed for being unprofessional and interference in politics of the country. International Credits are proof that we own a strong, professional and well-trained army. Beside past negligence, Pak Army is the only institution which played a key role in maintaining the country’s dignity. People of Pakistan should be proud and stand beside the army to give them a moral support.
