ISLAMABAD(Daily P.Times): Supreme Court (SC) has accepted the right to vote of Overseas Pakistan and has allowed them to cast vote in next by polls. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing petition filed by PTI chief Imran Khan and others Friday. The CJP remarked during the hearing of the case Election Commission (EC) should ensure arrangements in collaboration with NADRA and election result of Internet Voting (IV) be kept separate. He further remarked that later the result of I-voting be included in the result of by polls. However the result of I-Voting be kept separate in the event of any dispute.
The court remarked “ a lot of congratulations to overseas Pakistanis that their right to vote has been accepted today. Now the matter remains its implementation. Holding election is responsibility of election commission.
CJP observed we are grateful to Election Commission and NADRA for evolving pilot project. But this project should be completed under the rules and regulations of election commission and operation plan. NADRA should assist election commission to make electoral process of pilot project fool proof. The CJP further directed that all the results pertaining to rectification of electoral results should be placed before the parliament.
