ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry has said that 55,225 declarations have been filed under the tax amnesty scheme announced by the government.
In a statement, the Ministry said that public response to the scheme has been positive and declared value of foreign assets is around 577 billion rupees and domestic assets is around 1,192 billion rupees.
It said that declarants have paid around 97 billion rupees out of which around 36 billion rupees have been collected on foreign assets and 61 billion on domestic assets.
It further said that 40 million dollars have also been repatriated under the scheme.
Finance Minister is closely monitoring the operation of the amnesty scheme and constantly advising both the FBR and SBP for improving payment procedures and ensuring effective facilitation.
The closing date for filing declarations under the amnesty has already been extended till 31st of this month.
