NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood has underlined the commitment of Pakistani leadership to have peaceful, cooperative and good neighbourly relations with New Delhi on the basis of mutual respect and sovereign equality.
He was talking in New Delhi with a group of seventy one Pakistani students visiting India.
The High Commissioner said regular people-to-people exchanges are pivotal for peaceful and cooperative ties between the two neighbours.
He said Islamabad is supporting participation of scholars, academics, artists, sportsmen and members of civil society from India in relevant events in Pakistan.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said media can play a constructive role in reducing tensions and promoting diplomacy and dialogue between the two countries.
The Pakistani students are visiting India on the invitation of “Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth” and film-maker Harsh Narayan.
