ISLAMABAD: Students of private schools and their parents have voiced strong protest over non availability of text books in the market and enormous increase in the cost of books.

According to media reports the students said that Islamabad is the smallest city of the country having no Tehsil but the text books have not been provided to them so far as these have not reached the markets despite commencement of new academic session.
The cost of Urdu book for 5th standard has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 205 and this cost has been scaled up by 105 percent. The cost of English book has been raised from Rs 105 to Rs 192 and Mathematics from Rs 120 to Rs 192.
The price of Social studies book has been enhanced from Rs 80 to Rs 145 and Islamiyat book from Rs 85 to Rs 125.

The students said that no change in syllabus has been made and only price of books has been changed on upward side.
The teachers have also slammed the step taken by the government for awarding contract of publishing text books to private sector. The syllabus has also not been uploaded on the website, they added.
