PASRUR: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that a politician should be given as much respect as a judge and general enjoys.
“A politician deserves the same respect as a judge and general. The politicians are held accountable after every five years. The decision lies with the people. Whatever decision is given by the people should be respected for five years” the PM said this while performing ground breaking of dualization of Sialkot-Pasrur road here Saturday.
“ I am happy that whom you elect and send to the assemblies not only resolve the problems facing the people of their respective constituencies but also they play pivotal role in the development of the country”, he remarked.
“ I appreciate how tremendous work has been done by the former law minister Zahid Hamid Khan for the progress of the country. He never refused whatever job was assigned to them. On the other hand he did it completely. He was dragged on one bill despite the fact he had nothing to do with this bill and nor his name was mentioned in the report. I asked him not tender resignation but he said that if the issue is sorted out due to his resignation then he resigns. This is the criterion of his politics of service”, he underlined.
The country can not progress wherein no respect is given to the politicians. A politician should be respected as much as a general and a judge. The job for running the country rests with the politician, he added. If a politician is disqualified on the basis of iqama then it is not in favor of the country.
He went on to say that Khawaja Asif was deseated merely on the basis of an iqama despite the fact iqama is a visa.
Khawaja Asif served the country for 30 years. Even then we accepted all decisions. This decision will neither be accepted by history nor people, he held.
He observed a politicians is held accountable after every five years and no one else is held accountable this way.
There is only one way leading to the development of the country that “respect the vote, respect the politician, he said.
He stated that Shahbaz Sharif worked very hard and his works can be seen every where in the province.
PML-N government addressed the problems facing the people through construction of projects pertaining to electricity, gas and roads.
He quested “ were Musharraf and Zardari not having resources. Why did they not carry out development works for the people. Why they did not get construct CPEC. These all projects have been executed by PML-N which does not fill its pockets.
He said PML-N needs no points because we are standing here on the basis of our performance.
