ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Dr. Miftah Ismail has said it is strange that Imran Khan who has benefited from Amnesty Scheme in the past is opposing it now.
“ A positive response beyond expectations has come on Amnesty scheme. Criticizing this scheme is unwarranted. How strange it is that Imran Khan who has benefited from amnesty scheme in the past is now opposing it”, he said this in an interview with a private TV channel here Saturday.
“We want to broaden tax net. We will give a list of 2 million people before May 30 who are taxable”, he declared.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had announced amnesty scheme a day before.
The PM while announcing 5-point tax reforms said those who are holding assets outside the country can benefit from amnesty scheme. The dollar account can be retained by paying 5 percent tax.
