ISLAMABAD: Video clips of press conference and talk shows by PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz were played in Supreme Court (SC) in contempt of court case against him.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Sheikh Azmat took up for hearing on Friday contempt of court case against PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz.
Daniyal Aziz appeared in the court along with his counsel.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) told the court that one among the two witnesses was present in the court and second witness has not reached so far.
The court ordered the witness who is present in the court should record his statement.
Under the orders of court witnesses including Director PEMRA Monitoring Haji Adam and journalist Sajid Hussain appeared in the court.
Witness Haji Adam recorded his statement with regard to September 8 press conference and December 19 media talk.
The lawyer of the defendant Ali Raza requested to play the video of Daniyal Aziz’s statement in the courtroom upon which, Justice Azmat Saeed warned him that it might lead to more charges being pressed against the defendant. The video was played in the courtroom at the end.
After watching video clip the counsel asked about the source of video clip.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked “ how the witness would come to know about editing of clip. Your case is not this.
The counsel asked about issuance of notice to TV channel in connection with violation.
The witnesses refused.
Journalist Sajid Hussain recorded his statement in respect of new item with regard to Daniyal Aziz PID press conference.
The counsel requested that the video clip of the entire press conference be played.
A lighter moment was shared in the courtroom when Justice Saeed approved Aziz’s counsel’s request for the entire press conference to be played but only after commenting that he was allowing it despite the conference being boring as the court had no other option.
The counsel asked from the witness when Daniyal Aziz had said about preparing the reference by monitoring judge during his press conference.
The witness told he said this at the end of press conference. Daniyal Aziz did not refute the news item.
The counsel said this was not said by Daniyal Aziz.
The witness said he too could not get verify it.
The counsel sought permission to file more documents in the court.
The court while allowing him to do so adjourned the hearing of the case till April 16.
