Islamabad: Realizing the potential of young athletes, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) sponsored Mahin and Huzaifa training in 2017 under its CSR initiatives. In the recently concluded, ITF World Juniors tournament held at Islamabad from Feb 19th – 24th, 2018; Mahin (Mari’s pride) qualified for both Doubles and Singles Final and won the Doubles title, where she paired with Yu Yun-Li of Chinese Taipe.
Mahin Aftab Qureshi and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman are two young rising stars of Pakistan Tennis. Mahin is currently National Junior (under 16) Champion, who has improved 310 places in World ranking and Huzaifa finished as Asian No 2 in under 14 category.
Huzaifa has trained in Potter’s Wheel Tennis Academy, Beijing under supervision of Carlos Rodriguez, one of the top coaches in the world. This training sponsored by MPCL helped him to develop his game. Moreover, he participated in a couple of ITF Juniors tournaments each in UAE and Kenya. The experience of playing against top World Juniors was priceless for him and he improved his game immensely.
Mahin, with her improved rankings, has qualified for 2 x ITFs to be held in Qatar, starting from 16 March to 31st March 2018. She has also qualified for 2 x ITFs in Birmingham UK from 14th April till 29th April 2018. In May this year, she will enter in Beirut ITF World Juniors. Mahin is also scheduled to play 2-3 ITFs in Bangkok during the months of May & June, 2018.
In a recently concluded ITF Junior tournament in Islamabad, Huzaifa progressed to the semi-finals beating the top seed Ahmed Zayan of Great Britain in Quarter Finals.
