Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter and the Pakistan People’s Party (AJK) expressed full consensus on transferring all administrative powers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council to Azad Jammu and Kashmir government and agreed to fully strengthen AJK Legislative Assembly.
It was announced in a combined statement issued after a meeting between Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan and Pakistan Peoples Party AJK President Chaudhry Latif Akbar here on Sunday.
Chaudhary Muhammad Matloob Inqalabi, Chaudhary Pervaiz Ashraf, Sardar Javed Ayub and Azadar Shah were also present in a detailed meeting among the heads of the two parties of the State.
It was decided to transfer all the subjects including the financial matters, legislation power including ammendments in AJK interim constitution Act 1974, tax recovery and others from AJK Council to AJK Assembly.
The Constitutional Committee of all the political parties comprised since 2012 will fully co-operate with each other for the implementation of this much awaited initiative.
It was also decided in the meeting to further enhance the discussion and suggestion process between all political parties after the approval made by the Government of Pakistan on other important matters including the abolishment of the Kashmir Council.
The President Pakistan People’s Party assured the Prime Minister AJK for their support in constitutional amendment.
It was also agreed to set aside politics on the important issues of the AJK especially achieving its rights and assured full support to enhance the authorative powers and administrative powers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir government.
